It has been a euphoretic start to 2018 for the local dance school
VIBZ Performing Artz. 20 students travelled to the Gold Coast to take part in the Peter Oxford National Showcase, where they competed against the very best dance schools from all over Australia and New Zealand.
The journey began back in 2017 when both the junior and senior crew qualified for the National competition which was held at The Star Casino on the Gold Coast last month.
The crews then spent 6 months fundraising and rehearsing. All their efforts paid off when out of the 6 sections they entered, they won 5.
• 1 ST National Champion – Junior Hip Hop (Small Group)
• 1 ST National Champion – Preteen Jazz (Large Group)
• 1 ST National Champion – Teen Jazz (Small Group)
• 1 ST National Champion – Teen Hip Hop (Large Group)
• 1 ST National Champion – Teen Lyrical (Small Group)
• 4 th Place – Teen Jazz (Large Group)
The Junior Hip Hop Crew also placed in the top 6 junior groups across all dance genre’s and were selected to compete in the “Battle of the Stars” show.
Competing on the very stage, their teacher and studio owner Tamara Scamporlino had performed during her two dance contract with the casino. An opportunity of a lifetime for these amazing students. In their first trip to the Showcase nationals, Peter Oxford (Showcase President and Founder) praised the studio for their comradery and positive attitude throughout the event.
